Lakeside’s Track and Field Team Brings Home More Hardware

Lakeside’s Track and Field Team competed at the Wolverine Middle School Invitational at West Forsyth HS this past Friday, March 10th. Lakeside brought home hardware as the Lakeside Girls got 1st, and the Lakeside Boys got 2nd.

Lakeside – Forsyth County Championships

Lakeside’s Track and Field Team competed in their Final Meet at the Forsyth County Championships on Wednesday, April 20th at West Forsyth.
Lakeside Girls finished 4th overall as the Boys finished 3rd overall out of 11 schools.
Lakeside had a great showing of a number of athletes at the meet:
For the Boys:
Lakeside took 1st and 3rd in the 800m as Aidan Borden (2:16.01s) took the Championship First Place and Suvan Khanna in 3rd (2:17s)
Lakeside’s Boys 4x400m relay team got 2nd with a time of 2:55s.
James Blanton with a third place finish in High Jump with a jump of 5″2′
For the Girls:
Chloe Handschumacher got third in the Girls 100m (13:42s)
Anna Black with a second place finish in the Girls 400m dash (1:02s)
Lakeside’s Girls 4x100m relay team got 2nd with a time of 53:36s.
Aditi Srikant with a second-place finish in the Girls Long Jump with a jump of 14-11 ft.

For the first time one school made a clean sweep of County Championships

South Forsyth Middle School has made history this year. The 8th Grade Boys’ Teams from South Forsyth Middle School have won a County Championship in all four sports in which they compete. The Football team was undefeated, and defeated Otwell in the County Championship earlier this year.  The 8th Grade Boys’ Basketball Team had a 12 and 1 record to win county, defeating Vickery Middle School by a score of 68-41. The SFMS Boys’ Track Team won the County Track Meet, winning by a mere half point over Liberty Middle School. The sweep was then completed when the Golf Team finished their perfect season by winning the Forsyth County Golf Tournament by 6 strokes over 2nd Place Riverwatch Middle. Congratulations on a history making year.
