Hendricks upsets Otwell

Tuesday’s matchup between the Hawks and the Bulldogs was a game of attrition for the ages. Otwell scored early in the first quarter on a long touchdown run to give the Bulldogs an early 7-0 lead. Late in the first quarter a Hendricks safety made by a host of Hawks cut the lead to 7-2. On the ensuing drive, the Hawks would score on the ground taking an early 8-7 lead. The second quarter saw the Bulldogs score again taking a 15-8 lead off of another rushing touchdown, and a botched snap on the extra point attempt turned in Otwell’s favor as they completed the 2-point conversion off of the miscue. Defense was the theme of the third quarter and most of the fourth quarter. A Hendricks punt midway through the fourth quarter hit an Otwell player and was recovered by Hendricks defensive back Miles Hasty. The Hawks would grind out a methodical drive capping off the score with a Reese Coursey touchdown on the ground. The ensuing 2-point conversion, also by Reese Coursey, would be the tipping point for the Hawks securing their second win of the season in a 16-15 upset of the undefeated Bulldogs.
